Order Up: Upside Down Shepard Pie with creamy mash potato’s, lightly seasoned mixed vegtebles, topped with tender meat, Tomato Feta and Jalapeno Slices
When achieving a new twist on the traditional dish we have to look at the core ingredients in one of my favorite dishes – Shepard’s Pie. It all started when I couldn’t turn on the oven(If you lived in Riverside you’d understand..super hot 90+degrees outside), so what to do…but make the individual ingredients and treat them with some extra tender loving care.
One of my secret ingredients that I love to add to my mash potato’s is half a stick of cream cheese. It makes for a creamy texture that opens up your taste buds to additional herbal ingredients. So say hello to my little friends…rosemary, parsley and the hint of chili powder for starters.
I want to add some more food for thought…when making your next batch of mash potato’s try out a new flavor with at least two new spices and a dash of your favorite milk. You’ll walk away saying to yourself…this was another great adventure into the unknown that came out to be a triumph in culinary experimentation.
